Since our DUI Screenings are completed online, they are convenient and hassle free. Once you complete your screening it will be reported to the DMV and your MVR will be updated in real time and we send a copy of the results to the courts so they will see you comply as well. If you have a computer, tablet or smart device and an internet connection follow this link to get started.
Education:
- How to make better decisions: It is important to make better life decisions and avoiding future situations that would lead to another DUI incident. Students are also given various scenarios and are guided on the correct and responsible choice for each.
- How to drink responsibly: DUI classes will not condone drinking. However, it is often assumed that people will engage in alcohol use now and then. With that in mind, students are taught about responsible drinking.
- Identifying triggers: DUI classes will also help students determine the possible reasons they abuse alcohol and the likely triggers that drive them to drink. Once they can accurately identify their triggers, they are taught how to avoid those triggers effectively.
- Surrounding Themselves with the Right People: People who have been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (or other intoxicants) are taught to take stock of their lives and the people they surround themselves with. It is also likely that students are taught to assess their social circle and eliminate bad influences. People who want to manage their drinking need to surround themselves with the people who can positively influence them and who will help them make responsible decisions.
- The Grave Repercussions of Future DUI Offenses: DUI education classes is that driving while intoxicated is very dangerous and can result in severe injuries and even death. Students will hear testimonials from people who have lost loved ones, friends, and significant others to drunk drivers.
Treatment
Based on statistical data, mental health professionals have shown that holistic long- term care for those with a substance use disorder (SUD) are producing positive outcomes like individuals with chronic illnesses (Office of the Surgeon General, 2016).
Mental health professionals agree the most effective method to prevent substance use from progressing into a substance use disorder (SUD) is early intervention (Office of the Surgeon General, 2016). It is also widely known that individuals with a SUD that do not seek medical attention for their disorder but will utilize health care for other reasons (Office of the Surgeon General, 2016). It is this knowledge that has led many health care providers to actively utilize screenings as an intervention tool to help identify if the individual is in the early stages of addiction (Office of the Surgeon General, 2016). With intervention being the most effective method in preventing individuals from experiencing a SUD, it would be sensible to offer intervention techniques, resources and programs.

Materials & Training
This current curriculum and clinical approach employed by our DUI & Drug Diversion NCHCS 101 programs at Native Country Healthcare Institute of Safety follow the mainstream Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach commonly found in counselor psychology, which emphasizes the recognition and awareness of one’s substance use problems and following specific scientifically proven prescriptions of behavioral modifications that aim at recognizing stress-provoking events and coping skills.
Over the years, our counselors and clinical supervisors have amassed a wealth of clinical experience and practical knowledge, which is reflected in our current curriculum. It is important to note that all of Native Country Healthcare’s DUI program sites in three cities (Phoenix, Mesa, and Surprise) and our NCHCS 101 program in Maricopa County have used the same curriculum and clinical practices in order to achieve consistency in the intervention approach. Other providers of DUI programs have also come to accept the curriculum.
